Car Borescopes or automotive inspection cameras can be used in many places on automobiles, such as inside engine inspection, brake system, catalytic converter tube, behind instrument panel, transmission, evaporator, AC system, exhaust system, engine mount, camshaft, power windows, intake, valves etc. With a good borescope, you can see inside and hard to accessible areas easily. It saves your time and efforts, and remove 2nd guess. Also you can snap pictures or record videos to share with your co-workers, customers quickly. Those files can be saved in management systems. These automotive inspection cameras are used as diagnostic inspection camera by mechanics or technicians to find out what is wrong without dissemble auto parts.

There are three types of borescopes in terms of probe cameras are useful to auto mechanics:

1. straight forward looking or side viewing probe useful
2. Dual lens cameras (two cameras on same probe) more useful
3. Articulating probe (bending camera directions) very useful, especially with good image and small diameter

For diesel engines, one important factor is smaller diameter of camera probe due to diesel injector hole size limitation. Normally, the probe diameter needs to be 6mm / 0.236" or less for diesel engine inspection.
